ULT4DB2 is a powerful Db2 log analyzer which can generate REDO and UNDO SQL for data repair or Data Propagation. ULT4DB2 simplifies viewing and extracting changes to Db2 tables. Db2 log data can be used for propagating data, undo faulty changes or populate an auditing table with detailed list of previously made changes.
Db2 system recovery is a complex process mainly because most application systems are interconnected. When an update is completed, the record is forwarded to other systems to be updated again. Using traditional methods for cross systems recovery is nearly impossible. Recovering a faulty table to a specific point-in-time might not be possible because it would imply undoing all subsequent changes as well. ULT4DB2 simplifies this process by automatically creating SQL statements that reverts specific changes at a given moment in time.
ULT4DB2 data propagation feature is a valuable tool for keeping tables synchronized. ULT4DB2 can directly execute the same INSERT, UPDATE and DELETE on different target tables. ULT4DB2 uses very little system resources on the source Db2 system compared to other propagator solutions.
To simplify Db2 system management, ULT4DB2 produces detail report identifying all rollbacks that took place within a specific period of time. The “long-running job” report identifies potentially faulty jobs and transactions with low commit frequency.
Auditors can use ULT4DB2 in order to meet compliance and audit needs. The Db2 log contains detail audit information to identify who made a change to a table, when this was made and what the change was. ULT4DB2 helps group evidences and populates auditing tables with the required information. Auditors can analyze the changes over a given period of time using filters for user name, plan, column contents or other criteria.
